Our Story

Axiology: Beauty Without Harm

Axiology was founded in 2013 by Ericka, who began crafting her own vegan lipsticks after discovering that her makeup was tested on animals. What started as a DIY project in her tiny kitchen soon grew into a clean, cruelty-free beauty brand launched on Etsy, featuring just six buttery, 10-ingredient shades. The positive response led to global retail partnerships, including with Credo, and positioned Axiology as a pioneer in ethical, vegan cosmetics.

Despite these successes, Ericka recognized that Axiology was still contributing to the beauty industry’s massive packaging waste—over 120 billion units annually. In 2022, the company went 100% plastic-free, creating packaging from recycled island trash through a partnership with a women’s cooperative in Bali. This not only helps reduce pollution but also provides fair, stable work for local women, reflecting Axiology’s deeper mission: to make beauty better for people and the planet.
