What is Mekabu?
Mekabu is an ocean botanical that grows in the depths of the ocean off the northeast coast of Japan. It is a nutrient-rich superfood full of minerals, algae and vitamins that, in addition to being edible, provides incredible hydration to reawaken your hair. Ancient Japanese cultures have been using it for centuries and now we are bringing this unique and special ingredient to you.
What hair types will MASAMI work for?
We created MASAMI to work for virtually every hair type and texture. We did tons of consumer testing on every hair type and texture we could find prior to our launch. We are great for 2A to 4C curls but also will bring volume to thin straight hair (because we don’t weigh hair down). MASAMI is safe for colored hair and men love us too. Our Story
We Wanted to Solve The #1 Hair Issue - Hydration, But Do It Differently - Without Weighing Hair Down
Lynn and James decided to launch MASAMI to deliver hydrating haircare products that are salon quality and clean (no harmful ingredients), but also wouldn't weigh hair down. After 10 years in development, MASAMI was launched. Our styling cream is a cult favorite for it's hold without leaving hair sticky, greasy or crunchy like other styling products. Our hero ingredient, Mekabu, is a seaweed from Northeastern Japan, known for it's nutrient dense properties and hydration (it's like a sponge for your hair). We use Mekabu powder to deliver our excellent award-winning formula for all hair types and textures.
