Our Story

Our Mission: Make Safe Light and Energy Accessible for All

LuminAID's founders Andrea Sreshta and Anna Stork were students in architecture school when they were asked to design a humanitarian aid solution for the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. They turned their attention to an underlooked critical need: light. They invented the LuminAID light, a solar lantern that packs flat for easy shipping after disasters and inflates into a lightweight, waterproof lantern that recharges in the sun -- no batteries needed. They got their big break on Shark Tank in 2016, when they got offers from all 5 Sharks. LuminAID lanterns are now used by nonprofits operating in over 100 countries, and by consumers for camping, emergency preparedness, and backyard fun!
