FAQs

Can't someone just remove the NightCap drink cover?

NightCap is excellent at protecting your drink for short periods of time. NightCap is NOT an excuse to leave your drink unattended. NightCap is a physical and psychological deterrent created to prevent pills and powders from being dropped into a drink. It should be used as an improved alternative to covering a drink with your hand or napkin. You never know what the person next to you is going to do when you look away for a few seconds.

Do I need a straw to use NightCap?

Yes. You can use paper, plastic, or reusable straws. We offer a stylish stainless steel straw kit that can be bundled with your NightCap for a discounted price.

Does NightCap fit on all cups and glasses?

NightCap fits over most cups and glasses. It may not fit well over very small drinks or unique glasses such as a champagne flute. It is designed to fit perfectly over a solo cup.

Does NightCap have any other uses?

Yes! Do you spend a lot of time outdoors? NightCap can keep bugs OUT of your drink. We've had customers tell us that they use NightCap to prevent their cats from drinking their drinks as well as for keeping sand out at the beach.

Is NightCap reusable?

Yes. NightCap can be used over and over again. It is washing machine friendly if needed.

Shirah Benarde & Michael Bernarde

Our Story

An Idea Was Born

NightCap was invented in early 2019 by then 16-year-old Shirah Benarde from West Palm Beach, Florida. The idea came to her in a dream after hearing about the horrors of drink spiking from friends who experienced it after going off to college. Shirah was determined to come up with a pragmatic solution to this problem to protect her and her friends at college, and beyond. She also wanted to make sure the product would be something girls would feel comfortable using. The next morning, she went to her mother's closet, grabbed a pair of pantyhose, cut them up, attached them to a scrunchie to create the first NightCap prototype.

Her brother, Michael, 21 at the time, came home from college for the summer and saw the prototype sitting on a table. Having lived on a college campus for four years, he understood how prevalent this problem was — and still is. Knowing that there was no product on the market that had been adopted at large scale, Michael saw huge potential for NightCap due to its unbeatable convenience, unique design, and reusability. Together, Michael and Shirah took action and spent the next six months working to bring NightCap from concept to reality.
