How I Nearly Stumbled & Tripped My Way to a Much Better Tree & Landscape Protection Solution
While jogging on the Austin, TX hike and bike trail several years ago I saw over 100 trees that had been planted using a wraparound trunk protector. None of the trees had been serviced in some time and those protectors were “girdling” the trees.
The protection device had moved up about 3-4 inches from the base of the tree. What that did was expose the base of the tree that the device “should” have been protecting. I decided there must be a better way and invented the Plant Knight, which does not touch the tree or sapling. The heavy duty resin frame protects the tree from trimmers, mowers and strong winds.
I also decided to include garden stakes to hold it firmly to the ground. And when I nearly tripped over a tent stake I literally stumbled upon another use. Bright orange covers.
