The Rail-EZ umbrella mounting system is designed to safely and securely attach your patio umbrella to your patio, deck, or porch railing and is a great alternative to the traditional heavy bulky patio umbrella stand. The mounting system is non-permanent and fully adjustable so it can work on most railing sizes and types.



While the Rail-EZ works great on all sizes of umbrellas, it’s also a universal mounting system that lets you mount just about anything on a pole to your railings, Great for Shade Sails, TVs, binoculars, clothes dryers, privacy blinds, and more! We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return. To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unused, and in its original packaging.

What size railings can the Rail-EZ fit on?

The Rail-EZ NEXT GEN can fit railings widths between 1-1/2" and 6" (3.8cm to 15.24cm) and thicknesses between 5/8" and 2-1/2"(1.6cm to 6.35cm).

Does Rail-EZ work on a completely round railing?

Rail-EZ Next Gen will work on completely round railings but you need to pair it with the bottom bracket to stop rotation.

How big of a pole can fit in the Rail-EZ?

The Rail-EZ will hold a pole up to 1 1/2” (38mm) to a minimum diameter of 5/8”. If you pole is larger than that it will not work in the Rail-EZ

How big of an umbrella can I use?

You can use small to really big umbrellas (10, 1 & 15 foot). However, we recommend using the system in the "extended" position when using umbrellas over 8 feet.

How much wind can a typical patio umbrella take and how does Rail-EZ compare?

Most umbrellas have some type of base, in which the pole sits. The base adds more support and keeps the upper portion of the umbrella from tilting to one side. Most outdoor umbrellas cannot withstand the pressure from a 20 mph wind. We did tests and a traditional umbrella stand took about 7.5 pounds of pressure before it tipped over- The same umbrella in the Rail-EZ took about 23 pounds so it can withstand about 3x the wind velocity.

Will this work on aluminum railings as well as wood?

Yes, The Rail-EZ works on all types of railings, even ones you buy at home improvement stores, such as "Regal Railings".

Purchased two ez rail mounting systems. They are very well made. Solid and sturdy. They were pretty easy to install but the screws were a little short so had to be careful to get them in just right so they did not fall from the upper deck I installed them on. Although the idea is to be able to move them around as needed, I think it would be a little more time consuming than I had anticipated given the size of the screws. Other than that, I am 100% happy with my purchase and would recommend to others.

Helping People to Enjoy Their Outdoor Spaces with Compact, Space-Saving Shade Solutions

While chilling on our deck, our absolute favorite place, we realized we desperately needed more shade during peak sunny hours. However, the thought of a bulky umbrella stand hogging valuable space was a no-go. Plus, the idea of dragging it around to chase the shade? Not appealing.

That sparked an idea: What if we could simply attach the umbrella to the deck railing? We needed a solution that was secure yet not permanent, could easily adapt to the sun's movement, and was straightforward to set up, take down, and store.

Enter Drew, who has a knack for problem-solving, thanks to his background as an aerospace machinist. After dedicating four years to the challenge, the Rail-EZ was born. We have thousands of satisfied customers and are hoping to help many more!
