FAQs

I'm worried about leaning, tipping and wobbling

As of 1/15/26, we have reengineered the stand, guaranteeing that each tier sits firm without any lean; through rigorous testing, we're confident in its' ability to hold 4lbs per tier while still being able to swivel 360-degrees. The stand is heavy; by combining the steel serving plates with the thermoplastic base plates, the stand is designed for 360-degree swiveling while being anchored by the base plate. *DISCLAIMER* We advise hosts to load from the bottom up - it is only prone to tipping and/or wobbling when food is loaded on the second and third tiers, then swiveling without any supporting weight on the bottom tier. The base plate is engineered to serve as an anchor for the rest of the serving stand.

How quickly can I set it up?

It can be assembled in about 60 seconds with no tools required.

Can I refill dishes without interrupting the table?

Yes. The two-piece plate system allows you to remove and refill individual plates easily.

Is it safe for hot food?

Yes. It is tested to handle temperatures up to 600°F.

Does it take up storage space?

No. It collapses down to about 3 inches for compact storage.

Impressive triple serving tower! Easy to assemble and disassemble to store. Surprised at the weight - no fear of tipping over. Takes up little space, but plenty of room to display appetizers. Removable stainless trays make cleaning a snap. We entertain often and are glad we invested in the Totem.

Our Story

The Story Behind Totem Serveware and Jordan Stuart

Totem Serveware, like many great ideas, was born at the dinner table.

Jordan Stuart, founder and CEO, comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, but more importantly, from a family that never missed a chance to sit together and connect over a meal. His mother, Breanne, built her own business while still making time for homemade dinners five nights a week. These moments were not just about food. They were about connection, decompressing after the chaos of life, laughing at inside jokes, sharing dreams, and solving problems together. In Jordan’s words, “I wouldn’t trade those table memories for the world.” That deep-rooted appreciation for mealtime connection became the foundation of Totem Serveware.

The idea for Totem began in 2018 during a family dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Jordan, his brother Courtland, and their parents ordered sizzling fajitas, but the table quickly became overcrowded with multiple plates. The experience felt cramped, messy, and frustrating. In that moment, Jordan thought there had to be a better way to serve food at the table. That same night, the family sketched a concept for a stackable, swiveling serving tray and filed for a design and utility patent. At just 14 years old, Jordan set the idea aside until he was ready to pursue it seriously.

After graduating from Hartland High School in 2022, where he played varsity golf and spent time mountain biking and skiing, Jordan realized that traditional college or corporate paths did not align with what he wanted. He moved to Colorado, working in the mountain bike industry while continuing to develop his vision. Surrounded by a new environment and driven by purpose, he revisited the original idea and expanded it into something bigger than a single product. In February 2023, Totem Serveware was officially launched.

From the beginning, Totem was never meant to be just another kitchen product. While many serveware brands focus on function alone, Totem centers its mission on connection. The goal is to improve the kitchen experience not only by saving space or simplifying meals, but by bringing people back to the table with intention. The flagship product, the Totem Axis, is a three-tiered, swiveling serving tray designed to enhance both functionality and the overall dining experience. It represents unity and presence, aligning with the brand’s core philosophy of creating meaningful moments through shared meals.

Building the brand required significant effort. Over the past two years, Jordan has managed nearly every aspect of the business, including product development, supply chain, content creation, website design, customer service, and finances. While balancing college and entrepreneurship, he maintains a disciplined routine and continues to grow the business with a strong sense of purpose. Totem is not treated as a side project but as a long-term mission focused on reconnecting people through food and shared experiences.

Looking ahead, Jordan envisions Totem as more than a single product line. The brand aims to become a hub for mealtime connection, offering serveware, hosting tools, and resources that elevate the dining experience. The focus is not on creating more products, but on creating better moments. Totem is positioned as a brand that encourages people to slow down, gather, and reconnect. As the company grows, its core message remains consistent: mealtime is not just about eating, but about connection, presence, and living meaningfully.
