FAQs
Are Multi-Piece Pacifiers Safe?
Single-piece pacifiers are commonly recommended because many multi-piece pacifiers have historically been poorly engineered. However, multi-piece pacifiers are not inherently unsafe. Safety depends on engineering: component size, secure connections, materials, and sanitation. Many closed-back pacifier designs are multi-piece and were created to reduce finger entrapment, but poor moisture management led to sanitation issues. When modular pacifiers are intentionally engineered to prevent finger entrapment and allow full cleaning, they can address safety risks found in traditional single-piece designs. Every precaution and additional safety measures are taken with Soothe Beginnings, including extra testing beyond requirements.
Does the Soothe Beginnings pacifier pass the triangle test?
Yes—both our Standard and Nursing nipple shapes pass the triangle test, a method created by feeding expert Kaylee Rabaja to identify baby bottle and pacifier nipples that support a wide, deep latch. This test helps parents choose pacifiers that promote proper oral muscle development. Want to see how it works and why it matters?
Isn't this a choking hazard?
As a mom, the first stop in the product design process was with a safety consultant to see if interchangeable nipples could be done safely. It was intentionally designed above the required safety standards so that, assembled or not, each part is AT LEAST 32mm in size. The cap and shield work just like a baby bottle: an adult can securely close and open them, but a baby won't have the strength.
Are Soothe Beginnings Pacifiers made of wood?
No! The cap and shield piece are made of recycled paper and eco resin called Richlite. It doesn’t splinter like wood does. It is food grade, non-toxic, dishwasher safe, and sustainable! Richlite is a Forest Stewardship Council, Environmental Protection Declaration, Health Product Declaration, Greenguard, National Food Safety, and Eco Bind certified product.
What are Soothe Beginnings nipples made of?
The Soothe Beginnings nipples are medical-grade silicone and latex free. We test every batch even though the requirement is to only test once per year. Safety is the top priority! Did you know silicone is recyclable?
How often to replace Soothe Beginnings nipples?
Pacifiers should be replaced every 6-8 weeks, or sooner if you notice signs of wear and tear. Regular replacement ensures your baby’s pacifier remains safe, hygienic, and effective. Why Regular Replacement Matters: Hygiene: Over time, even the most durable materials like medical-grade silicone can accumulate bacteria, especially if not sanitized regularly. Safety: Worn-out pacifiers are more prone to breaking, creating a choking hazard for your baby. Durability: Materials like silicone are built to last longer than latex, but regular replacement is essential to maintain safety and functionality. Helpful Tip: Consider subscribing to a pacifier replacement program (like the one offered by Soothe Beginnings) to automate the process and ensure your baby always has a safe pacifier on hand.
How do I clean my baby’s pacifier?
Shields: handwash or top rack dishwasher, on normal (not steam/sterilizer) modes, Nipples: Dishwasher, boiling water, steamer, sanitizer safe. Be sure to sanitize your pacifiers daily and take them apart before doing so.

Our Story
The Struggles of Motherhood Lead to Entrepreneurship
Hey there! I’m Lindsay, founder of Soothe Beginnings and mom to the baby who started it all.
When my daughter was born, we went through it all: reflux, sleepless nights, postpartum depression, and a drawer full of pacifiers that either didn’t work or had design flaws. One night, somewhere between exhaustion and determination, I decided if I couldn’t find a pacifier that we needed, I’d make one that did.
That’s how Soothe Beginnings was born.
What started as one mom’s late-night idea has turned into a full-on safety mission. I now serve on two international pacifier safety subcommittees, working to raise the bar for products that go into our babies’ mouths. Every pacifier we make is PFAS-tested, plastic-free, batch-tested, and proudly made right here in the USA.
Because safety shouldn’t be complicated, it should be the convenient choice.
Thanks for being here and for caring as much as I do. You and your baby deserve products you can actually trust.
