At nine inches tall, it works with most popular picture book sizes and attaches easily to the back cover. A built-in microphone lets you record each page (or spread) to one of 21 labeled buttons, and the included page stickers guide little ones on which button to press, and when. The result? A screen-free, simple way for kids to hear you read to them anytime they like. Our Story
The Recordable Book Buddy Story
Growing up in Kansas, my siblings and I would pile onto the shag rug while our parents read us stories. Our Grandma Goose, who lived far away, mailed cassette tapes of herself reading books—her voice felt like a warm hug from across the miles. In 2017, I wanted my niece to experience that same magic, but when we unpacked the tapes, her voice was gone. That loss hit hard. I shared the idea of a modern solution with my partner Arden, a Navy vet and engineer. Together, we built the Recordable Book Buddy—a simple, durable way to record and replay voices reading stories. When Arden’s son heard his great-grandpa’s voice for the first time, we knew we’d created something special.
