Our Story
I Wish Dogs Could Brush Their Own Teeth". That wish was the moment that ShinieSmooch was born!
Like many pet parents, ShinieSmooch Founder Lauren McEnery knows the struggles of pet dental care. Lauren got her first dog, a Yorkshire Terrier named Charlotte, while in college. Lauren was unaware about the importance of home pet dental care until Charlotte was older and started to experience gum disease and tooth loss.
When Lexi came into Lauren's life, Lauren vowed to make Lexi's dental care a priority from day one. With a focus on Lexi’s dental health, Lauren bought various dog treats that were on the market. Each time Lauren offered one of these dental treats to Lexi, Lexi would simply smell the treat and then walk away. Lauren brushed Lexi's teeth but saw it was an unpleasant experience for Lexi.
One night sitting on the couch next to Lexi, Lauren thought "I wish dogs could brush their own teeth." It was the moment that ShinieSmooch was born!
